Wondering what the patient experience is like with Dr Abeer during a cosmetic dental consultation at Lakeview Dental Clinic?
Here's a short walkthrough video 🙂
Dental Veneers
Tooth imperfections like chipped, cracked, or discoloured teeth can lower your self-confidence. You may feel uncomfortable and conscious when you speak and smile in public. Hence, you'd prefer to stay quiet and come across as an introvert rather than an extrovert. However, you don't always have to be someone you're not. Get in touch with Lakeview Dental Clinic for a veneer consultation to get tooth imperfections corrected. Veneers address dental issues- aesthetics and physical.
Dental Veneers - What Are They?
These are tooth-coloured, custom-made thin shells bonded permanently to the teeth's front surface for improved appearance. The shells' colour, size, shape, and length are customized for the perfect smile. They are used for treating numerous cosmetic concerns, such as:
Discoloured teeth due to: Treatment of root canal Excessive fluoride Coffee or tea stains Stains from oral drugs like tetracycline Large resin fillings
Broken teeth
Chipped teeth
Misaligned and irregularly shaped teeth
Gaps between teeth
Smaller teeth than average
Crooked teeth
Bruxism (teeth grinding/clenching)
What Are the Different Types of Dental Veneers?
Dental Veneers are available in different materials and colours. They can be divided into two categories- prep and non-prep. Porcelain and composite are prep veneers, while non-prep veneers include Durathin veneers, Lumineers, and clip-on veneers.
Porcelain is natural-looking, stain-resistant, and durable. However, a special polishing paste is required to stick them firmly on your teeth. Hence the preparation and application procedure is longer. As they are biocompatible, the soft and gum tissue of your mouth is not affected by porcelain veneers negatively.
On the other hand, composite veneers are resin-coloured temporary veneers. They have minimal enamel removal, hence bonded fast. But composite veneers are prone to scratches, stains, and even fractures.
How Do They Work?
Our dentist will examine your teeth during your first visit to determine if veneers are suitable for you. If it is the best procedure, we will take an X-ray of your teeth. Then we reshape the surface of your tooth that needs veneer. Reshaping requires enamel removal of the same amount as the thickness of your veneer. Next, our dentist will take the impression of the tooth and send it to the lab. It takes two to four weeks for the lab to deliver the veneer.
The veneer is placed on the tooth to examine the colour and see if it fits. It is repeatedly removed and trimmed to ensure proper fit and colour. Then it is fixed permanently using a special paste/cement. Our dentist uses a special light beam to activate chemicals that harden the paste. The last step involves checking your bite. We make adjustments as needed. A follow-up visit is recommended to check gums and the veneer's placement.
